ES Windows Driveway & Pavers: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide
We stock and install ES Windows-compatible driveway pavers and the edge restraints, base materials, and jointing compounds that go with them right here in Woodland Hills. A typical paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 to $18,000 installed, and we can usually have the parts matched and on-site within a few business days. You’ll know something’s gone wrong when you see pavers shifting out of alignment along the driveway edge, sinking where the tires sit, or cracking around the apron near the street. That’s usually not the paver itself failing. It’s what’s underneath it.
Most Woodland Hills driveways we inspect have one of three problems: a failed base layer, an edge restraint that gave up, or joint sand that washed out during the winter rains we get off the Santa Monica Mountains. The pavers themselves often have years of life left. The system holding them stopped doing its job.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To

ES Windows manufactures a line of driveway pavers and modular paving systems in three main series: the Strata, the TerraForm, and the newer PermaEdge. Each series uses a slightly different joint width and paver thickness, and that matters more than most people think. A Strata paver is 60mm thick and uses a 3mm to 5mm joint. The TerraForm runs 70mm thick with an 8mm joint. You can’t mix them on the same driveway without creating visible offset lines and drainage trouble. We’ve seen it done, and it looks exactly as wrong as it sounds.
To identify what you have, pull one paver from the edge if it’s loose enough to move. Flip it over. ES Windows stamps the series name and the manufacturing date code on the underside. The date code is a four-digit number: first two digits are the year, last two are the month. A code ending in 07 was produced in July. If the stamp is gone from years of soil contact, measure the paver thickness with a tape measure. That 60mm versus 70mm difference is the fastest way to separate the Strata from the TerraForm. We generally recommend OEM ES Windows pavers for any visible driveway section, because the color batches stay tight and the sizes are precise to within a millimeter. Aftermarket equivalents save maybe 10 to 15 percent, but you’ll see the color drift inside of three California summers. Woodland Hills sun is not gentle on pigment.
We’re an independent service provider and not affiliated with ES Windows. We choose their parts because they hold up, not because we’re tied to the brand.

Signs Your ES Windows Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers tilting or rocking underfoot. The base layer has eroded or was never compacted properly. In the hillside sections of Woodland Hills above Ventura Boulevard, we often find the original base was only an inch or two of sand over clay, which fails fast once the winter rain soaks in.
- Gaps opening along the driveway edge. The edge restraint has failed or was never installed. Without a solid perimeter, the outside rows of pavers push outward every time a car turns into the driveway.
- Low spots where the tires park. The subgrade is settling. In the Warner Center area and older pockets of Woodland Hills, we regularly find tree roots from mature oaks and sycamores undermining the paver bed.
- White haze across the paver surface. That’s efflorescence, water drawing minerals up through the paver. It tells you water is moving through the base instead of draining away from it.
- Weeds or grass sprouting through joints. The joint sand has washed out and nothing is stopping seed from taking root. It starts as a cosmetic annoyance and ends with pavers shifting because the interlock is gone.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway replacement in Woodland Hills runs $7,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage, access, and whether we’re excavating and rebuilding the base or just doing a top-surface re-set. That range includes demolition and haul-off of the existing pavers, base compaction, new bedding sand, the ES Windows pavers themselves, edge restraints, jointing sand, and final compaction. If you only need a section repaired, we write that as a separate line item so you never pay to rebuild what’s still good.
What moves the price within that range: driveway length and slope, whether we can get a mini-excavator into the backyard or everything has to come through a 36-inch gate by wheelbarrow, and the paver series you choose. PermaEdge costs more than Strata because the edge profile is more complex to set correctly. The line-item written price you approve before we start is the number you pay. No changes at the door. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the install for a full year: if the pavers shift or settle within twelve months, we come back and correct it. Written guarantee, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Pull up one edge paver and look at the base depth. If you see less than four inches of compacted crushed rock under the bedding sand, that’s a useful data point and it’s safe to look. Walking the driveway after rain and circling the low spots with chalk is also worth doing. What we don’t recommend is lifting and resetting a large paver section yourself. The pavers are heavy, the base issues aren’t visible from the surface, and a driveway that drains toward your foundation will cause problems that cost far more than the driveway repair ever would.
If the base is compromised, there’s no surface fix that lasts. Call us at (341) 217-2776 and we’ll come measure, diagnose, and give you a written price for what actually needs to happen.
FAQs

With a properly compacted base and intact edges, ES Windows pavers on a Woodland Hills driveway will last 25 to 35 years. The paver itself rarely fails; the system underneath it does. Most driveway failures we see are base failures, not surface failures.
Call (341) 217-2776 if your driveway is settling. A quick inspection costs you nothing and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a re-set or a full rebuild.
Yes, and we do that regularly. If the problem is isolated to one edge row or a single sink area near the apron, we can cut out the section, correct the base, and reset matching pavers. The color match is better if we use OEM ES Windows from the same series and production era. We’ll tell you if a patch will show, because a mismatched patch looks worse than the original problem. Call (341) 217-2776 for a section-by-section quote.
A full replacement on a standard two-car driveway in Woodland Hills takes four to six working days from demo to final compaction. Rain extends that because we don’t compact wet base material; it won’t lock correctly and you’d be rebuilding in two years. For a section repair, it’s usually one day. We’ll give you the schedule in writing before work starts, along with the price.
We stock a limited quantity of the most common ES Windows Strata colors and sizes on our truck, primarily for repair sections where a few pavers need swapping. Full driveway runs are ordered per job so the entire delivery comes from one production batch, which guarantees color consistency across the whole driveway. If you’re in the hills above Topanga Canyon Boulevard or over in Warner Center, give us a call at (341) 217-2776 and we’ll tell you what we have on hand and what needs ordering.
