Sakrete Driveway & Pavers: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide
We supply and install Sakrete-compatible driveway and paver materials throughout Woodland Hills, with full paver driveway installations running $7,000 – $18,000 and concrete driveway work at $4,500 – $12,000 depending on square footage and site prep. Most owners call us after noticing the first signs of surface failure: a paver that’s sunk below its neighbors, a crack widening through the Sakrete slab, or a section of the driveway that holds water after rain. The good news is that failed pavers and cracked concrete don’t usually mean a full tear-out. The bad news is that Sakrete surface problems get worse fast in our clay-heavy Woodland Hills soil when the winter rains arrive.
We’re an independent service provider in Woodland Hills, not affiliated with Sakrete or its parent company. What we do have is two decades of experience matching the right repair material to the right failure, and we stock common Sakrete paver and concrete products on our trucks so we don’t have to make a second trip.
Which Sakrete Models This Applies To

Sakrete makes a range of concrete and paver products, and the repair route depends on which one you’ve got. The Sakrete Paver Set line is a polymeric sand that locks joints between pavers. Sakrete Flo-Coat is a resurfacer for worn concrete. Sakrete High-Strength Concrete Mix and Sakrete Crack Filler handle structural and surface repairs respectively. The gotcha we see constantly in Woodland Hills: if your original install used a standard mortar or loose sand between pavers, Sakrete Paver Set won’t bond correctly to it. You need to remove the old joint material first, and that’s where most DIY jobs go sideways.
For any Sakrete product, the bag label tells you the PSI rating and the aggregate size. A 4,000 PSI mix is standard for driveways; anything less won’t hold up to the weight of a parked SUV. If you’re unsure which product your installer used, bring us a photo and a sample of the failed material. Luca Romano has been identifying concrete failures by feel for the better part of twenty years, and he can usually sort it out in minutes.

Signs Your Sakrete Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sinking or rocking pavers. This usually means the base layer underneath wasn’t compacted properly, or water has washed out the sand bed. In the hillside streets above Topanga Canyon Boulevard, we see this constantly because of drainage runoff. Left alone, the pavers crack and the problem spreads outward.
- Widening cracks in a Sakrete slab. Concrete cracks for two reasons in Woodland Hills: thermal movement and soil shift. A hairline crack is cosmetic. A crack wider than a quarter inch means the slab has lost structural integrity. Our clay soil expands when wet and shrinks when dry, and that cycle pulls concrete apart every year.
- Disappearing joint sand between pavers. When you can see gaps between pavers after a rain, the joint material has failed. This lets water into the base layer, and that’s the beginning of the end for the whole driveway. Sakrete Paver Set locks tighter than standard sand, but it also requires dry application conditions.
- Flaking or spalling surface. The top layer of the concrete starts chipping away in thin sheets. This happens when water penetrates the surface and then freezes or when de-icing salts react with the concrete. In Woodland Hills we don’t get hard freezes often, but the hot sun and occasional Santa Ana winds dry concrete out and make the surface brittle.
- Standing water after rain. If sections of your driveway hold puddles an hour after the rain stops, the surface has settled and the drainage path is gone. On paver driveways this is usually a base compaction issue. On concrete it’s a slab that’s cracked and shifted. Both need correction before the next rainy season.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full paver driveway installation in Woodland Hills, expect $7,000 – $18,000. That covers demolition and haul-away of the old surface, base compaction, new pavers or Sakrete-compatible materials, joint sand, and sealing. Concrete driveway installation runs $4,500 – $12,000 for a standard two-car driveway, and driveway replacement falls at $5,000 – $14,000. Driveway sealing alone is $250 – $700 depending on surface area.
What drives the price: site access (narrow Woodland Hills driveways on hillside lots cost more to prep), the condition of the base layer, and whether drainage corrections are needed. Every quote from us includes a written price before work starts, a parts breakdown, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. You’ll know the number before we touch a tool.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect the surface: look for sinking, cracking, flaking, and water pooling. You can sweep and clean the area. You can apply a basic concrete sealer if the surface is sound. What you shouldn’t DIY: removing and re-bedding pavers on a base that’s failed, because if you don’t fix the base you’ve just bought yourself a repeat problem in eighteen months. And crack repair on structural concrete is genuinely hard to get right. If the crack goes through the slab or the pavers are moving, the repair is more than cosmetic and it takes a trained eye to know the difference.
If you’re in Woodland Hills and you’re not sure whether it’s a surface fix or a structural one, call (341) 217-2776. We’ll come look. The estimate is free, and you’ll get a straight answer either way.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway in Woodland Hills should last 25 to 30 years with joint sand maintenance every 3 to 5 years, and a Sakrete concrete slab should give you 20 to 25 years before the surface needs resurfacing or replacement. Woodland Hills’ clay soil and seasonal temperature swings shorten that lifespan compared to more stable ground, especially when base compaction was rushed or drainage was never addressed. Call (341) 217-2776 for an exact assessment of your driveway’s remaining life.
Yes, if the crack is hairline and the slab is still level, a Sakrete crack filler or resurfacer can extend the driveway’s life by several years. If the crack is wider than a quarter inch, or if one side of the slab has sunk, the underlying soil has shifted and the repair needs to address the base, not just the surface. In Woodland Hills, that usually means mudjacking or a partial re-pour of the affected section.
A standard two-car concrete driveway replacement in Woodland Hills takes 3 to 5 days from demolition to a walkable surface. A paver driveway installation runs 5 to 10 days depending on the square footage and the base prep needed. We’ll give you a schedule in the written estimate before work starts, and the price you approve is the price on the invoice.
We stock the common Sakrete and compatible products for paver and concrete work on our trucks, including Paver Set, Flo-Coat, Crack Filler, and high-strength concrete mixes for driveway slabs. If your job needs a specialty Sakrete product we don’t carry, we’ll include it in the written estimate and handle ordering. You don’t need to buy anything yourself, and you won’t get a surprise parts charge at the end.
