Cambria Kitchen Remodeling: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide

A full Cambria kitchen remodel in Woodland Hills typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, and most projects take three to six weeks depending on cabinet work, countertop fabrication, and whether we’re moving plumbing or electrical. Homeowners usually find us when their kitchen has crossed from “dated” to “dysfunctional”: cracked countertop seams, delaminating cabinet faces, or a layout that fights them every time they cook. The good news is that Cambria quartz is one of the few surfaces that rarely fails on its own; the problems are almost always in what’s holding it up, the seams, or the sink cutout area where water’s been sitting for years.

We’re Sawyer Remodel Woodland Hills, an independent remodeling contractor serving the West Valley since 2005. We’re not affiliated with Cambria, but we work with their slabs constantly, and we know exactly how a Cambria top behaves when the cabinets underneath shift or when a seam was cut too tight.

Here’s the honest picture of what goes wrong and what it costs to fix it right in Woodland Hills.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria’s quartz lineup changes names every few years, but the fabrication specs stay remarkably consistent: 2 cm and 3 cm thicknesses, full-slab runs, and engineered quartz that’s about 93% crushed stone and 7% resin binder. That matters when you’re matching an existing island to a new perimeter top, or when you’re salvaging one run of counters and replacing the rest. You need to know the thickness and the color lot, because quartz colors shift slightly between production runs.

The compatibility gotcha with Cambria in Southern California is seam placement. Cambria slabs are jumbo-sized at about 132 inches long by 65.5 inches wide, which means most Woodland Hills kitchens can run a single slab with no seam at all. But some fabricators cut corners by piecing smaller remnants from other jobs, which leaves you with a visible seam where Cambria’s own template called for none. We check the slab size against your countertop runs before a single cut is made.

OEM vs. aftermarket matters less for Cambria than it does for cabinetry hardware or sinks. The quartz itself only comes from Cambria, period. There’s no aftermarket Cambria. What you’re choosing between is an authorized Cambria fabricator versus an independent shop that buys Cambria slabs. We buy direct from Cambria’s regional slab yard in the Valley, and we fabricate through shops we’ve worked with for over a decade. For the other brands we service, we stock KraftMaid cabinet components, Silestone quartz for budget remodels, and Kohler sink and faucet parts on the truck.

Signs Your Cambria Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Seam splitting open. Quartz doesn’t flex, so when the cabinets shift (and they do, on Woodland Hills hillside homes with expansive soil), the stress concentrates at the seam. A seam that’s gapped open more than 1/32 inch means the substrate underneath has moved, and a cosmetic re-fill will fail again in months.
  • Hairline cracks radiating from the sink corners. This is the classic symptom of a sink cutout that wasn’t reinforced, or an over-torqued sink clip. Water works into the hairline, and every hot-pot-to-cold-water cycle makes it grow. We see this on 30% of the Cambria tops we’re called out to inspect in the Warner Center area.
  • Dark staining that won’t lift wineth, or oil seeping into the surface. Cambria is non-porous and shouldn’t stain. If yours is, you’re looking at a polished surface that’s been etched by the wrong cleaning product (acidic sprays eat the polish layer), or a top that was sealed with something it shouldn’t have been. The factory finish is the only finish. Once it’s damaged, it needs re-polishing by someone who knows quartz.
  • Cabinets sagging under the top. Cambria is heavy, about 6 pounds per square foot at 2 cm and 9 pounds at 3 cm. If the cabinet boxes were particleboard from a big-box store, they compress slowly over five to eight years. You’ll see the counter drop below the tile backsplash line, or doors that won’t close because the face frame has racked.
  • Island overhang flexing. A 12-inch overhang on unsupported Cambria is a broken-top waiting to happen when someone leans on it. The rule is 6 inches of support for every 12 inches of overhang, and Woodland Hills homes with bartop seating constantly get this wrong because nobody checks the corbel spacing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

A Cambria kitchen remodel in Woodland Hills runs $14,000 to $45,000, and here’s what drives the spread:

  • Countertop replacement only (existing cabinets stay): $2,000 to $6,500 installed, including slab, fabrication, template, sink cutout, and seam work.
  • Full kitchen with new cabinets and Cambria tops: $14,000 to $35,000 for a standard 10×12 kitchen with 30 linear feet of cabinetry, quartz counters, and no layout changes.
  • Full kitchen with layout changes, island, and custom work: $35,000 to $45,000 when we’re moving plumbing, adding electrical, or running cabinets floor-to-ceiling.
  • Small kitchen remodel: $9,000 to $20,000 for a galley or condo kitchen in a Warner Center or Topanga corridor unit.

Every Sawyer Remodel quote in Woodland Hills is a written, line-item price before we start. You see the slab cost, the fabrication cost, the demolition, the install, and the haul-away separately. The number on the digital invoice is the number you approved. If a problem comes up mid-job and the price has to move, you approve the change in writing before we touch it. And every kitchen we build carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing, for a full year.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself. Look at whether the seam has gapped, measure the overhang with a tape, and check if the counter’s dropped below the backsplash line. Those diagnostics cost you nothing and give us accurate information when you call. What you should absolutely not do is attempt to re-seam quartz yourself, polish out etching with a random orbital sander, or shim a sagging cabinet from underneath while the top is still on. Quartz is unforgiving, and a dropped corner will turn a $600 seam repair into a $2,500 slab replacement. Luca Romano’s honest take from two decades of working Los Angeles kitchens: the materials cost of a countertop repair is low, but the knowledge is what you’re paying for. Call (341) 217-2776 and we’ll send someone who’s done this a thousand times.
