Cover Fence Installation: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Woodland Hills typically runs $3,500 – $9,000 installed, depending on linear footage, post setting, and whether we’re pulling and hauling an old fence. We stock Cover-compatible fence panels, posts, and hardware on our trucks, and most Woodland Hills jobs go from first call to finished fence in three to five working days. The way most homeowners find out a fence section has failed is simple: a neighbor texts a photo of it leaning, or the dog gets out through a gap that wasn’t there last week. By the time you’re searching for this, you’ve probably already pushed on a post and felt it move. That’s the part to trust.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s fence system uses a modular panel-and-post design, so the compatibility question usually comes down to two things: post spacing and panel height. The standard Cover fence panel is built for 6-foot or 8-foot spans between posts, with common heights at 4, 5, and 6 feet. The gotcha we see in Woodland Hills: Cover’s 6-foot panel is a true 72 inches, not the “nominal 6-foot” some big-box panels sell at 71.5 inches. If you’ve mixed parts from different runs, that half-inch gap at the top or bottom is the tell. Flip a panel over and look at the stamped mold date and series code on the bottom rail. Series A and Series B panels use different post channel widths, and they don’t interlock cleanly.

On OEM versus aftermarket: Cover’s own panels are fine, but for Woodland Hills sun exposure, we often recommend an aftermarket powder-coated post cap and a UV-stabilized panel insert from a supplier like VinylGuard. The coating holds up better against our August heat and the wind that comes off the Santa Monica Mountains. Aftermarket does not mean knockoff. It means the part was built to the same channel spec and then improved where Cover’s own warranty has historically been thin, which is the post cap cracking at the fastener holes. We’re an independent Woodland Hills contractor, not affiliated with Cover, and we’ll tell you straight when an aftermarket part outperforms OEM for less money.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts lean or twist when you push on them. The post footer has rotted below grade, or the original installer set posts in 18 inches of concrete when Woodland Hills clay soil needs 30. Water pools around the base in winter, and the post works loose.
  • Panels sag between posts. The internal aluminum stiffener inside the bottom rail has corroded or snapped. You hear a rattle inside the panel when you tap it with your knuckle. That’s the stiffener telling you it’s done.
  • Gaps open at the seams between panel and post. The post channel has warped from heat cycling. Woodland Hills summers hit 100°F, and the vinyl expands and contracts daily. After eight to ten years, the channel loses its grip.
  • Gate drags or won’t latch. The hinge post has shifted, or the gate frame’s internal brace has cracked. Cover’s gate frames are foam-filled, which is fine until water gets in and the foam freezes the metal brace against itself.
  • White chalky residue on panels. The UV topcoat has oxidized. The panel is still structurally sound, but the color is fading and the surface is getting brittle. That’s the first sign a full replacement is coming in two to three years.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open living space after a whole-home remodel

In Woodland Hills, a full Cover-compatible fence replacement runs $3,500 – $9,000. A partial repair, where we pull three or four bad posts and rehang existing panels, lands at the low end. A full tear-out with new posts, panels, gate, and haul-away runs toward the top. The biggest cost driver is post setting: clay soil, hillside grades, and root systems from mature oaks off Topanga Canyon Boulevard mean more drilling, more concrete, and occasionally a new post location.

Scope Typical Installed Range
Single post replacement, rehang one panel $450 – $900
Partial repair, 3 – 5 posts and 2 – 4 panels $1,800 – $3,500
Full fence replacement, 40 – 60 linear feet $3,500 – $6,500
Full fence replacement with gate and demo/haul $5,500 – $9,000

Every job includes the written price before work starts under The Relay Visibility Guarantee. You’ll know the number before a single tool comes off the truck, and the invoice you pay matches it. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the install: if a post shifts or a panel pops loose within a year, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the basics: push on each post, look for gaps at the panel seams, and note whether the gate drags. That’s honest diagnosis, and you should do it before calling anyone. What you shouldn’t do is set a new post yourself on a Woodland Hills hillside. Post holes here run into clay, rock, and roots, and a post set at the wrong depth or without adequate concrete will be leaning again within two seasons. We also see a lot of homeowners buy the wrong series panel and try to force it into a channel that doesn’t match. Now they have a cracked channel and a panel they can’t return.

If the failure is a single post or a single panel, a skilled homeowner can handle it on flat ground. If it’s multiple posts or anything involving the gate hardware, call (341) 217-2776. We’ll bring the right series parts, the right hole auger, and the right concrete mix for this soil.
