Quikrete Driveway & Pavers: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide
If your Quikrete driveway or paver project has cracked, spalled, or settled, we can fix it. Typical Quikrete-compatible driveway repair runs $450 – $2,500 installed in Woodland Hills, while full paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000. Most repairs are done in a day.
Most Woodland Hills homeowners discover the problem the same way: a hairline crack that wasn’t there last winter is suddenly a quarter-inch wide and running the full length of the slab. Or a paver edge that’s started to sink where the sprinkler overspray hits it. Quikrete products are solid, but Southern California’s freeze-thaw cycles in the hills above Topanga Canyon Boulevard and the relentless summer sun will find any weakness in a pour or a paver bed. The good news is that most of what we see is fixable without tearing out the whole driveway.
We’re an independent contractor, by the way. Sawyer Remodel Woodland Hills installs and repairs driveways and pavers using Quikrete products regularly – we know how they cure, how they fail, and how to match a patch to an existing finish. Quikrete doesn’t own us and we don’t do warranty work for them. We fix what’s broken and stand behind it ourselves.
Key takeaways:
- Quikrete driveway repair in Woodland Hills: $450 – $2,500 installed
- Full Quikrete-based paver driveway: $7,000 – $18,000
- Most concrete repairs cure same-day, but full driveway replacement needs 72 hours before vehicle traffic
- We stock Quikrete repair mortars, resurfacer, and polymeric sand on the truck
- Luca Romano has been working driveways and slabs across the West Valley for nearly two decades
Which Quikrete Models This Applies To

Quikrete makes a broad line: Crack Sealant, Concrete Resurfacer, FastSet Repair Mortar, Sand Mix, 5000 PSI Concrete Mix, paver base, leveling sand, and polymeric joint sand. The ranch houses off Mulholland and the townhomes near Warner Center put different loads on their driveways, so the right product depends on the condition you’re dealing with.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha nobody tells you: Quikrete Concrete Resurfacer only bonds to a properly prepared surface, and it won’t fix a slab that’s actively moving. If your driveway has a crack wider than a quarter inch that keeps opening up, resurfacer will look great for about eight months and then crack along the same line. That’s a base failure, not a surface problem. We identify which one you have before we sell you a fix.
For OEM versus aftermarket, the honest answer is that with Quikrete products, the product itself is the “part.” There’s no sealed cartridge or proprietary component to match. What matters is using the right Quikrete mix for the job – 5000 PSI for load-bearing slabs, FastSet for patch work that needs to be drivable the same day, and polymeric sand between pavers that resists ants and washout. We carry all of it.

Signs Your Quikrete Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Hairline cracks that run in straight lines. This is usually shrinkage or a control joint issue, not structural failure. It’s cosmetic today, but water gets in, and water expands and contracts with Woodland Hills temperature swings. Catch it now and a crack sealant stops it.
- Cracks wider than a quarter inch, or cracks where one side is higher than the other. The ground underneath is moving. Maybe it’s clay soil shrinking and swelling through wet and dry seasons, maybe it’s tree roots from the eucalyptus that line so many streets here. Patching the surface won’t hold.
- Crumbling or flaking at the surface. This is spalling, and we see it most on older driveways where the concrete was finished too wet or salt-based de-icers were never an issue but sun damage took its toll. Quikrete Resurfacer is the right fix if the base is sound.
- Paver joints emptying out. If you sweep sand between pavers and it’s gone after a couple of Santa Ana wind events or a few weeks of garden hose overspray, the joints weren’t sealed right. Quikrete polymeric sand with proper activation fixes it.
- Sunken or rocking pavers. One paver dips when you step on it, or the whole edge along the lawn has started to slope. That’s a base compaction problem. We lift the pavers, re-grade the base, and reset them.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Woodland Hills, a Quikrete-based paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, access, and paver style. Concrete driveway replacement using Quikrete 5000 PSI mix runs $5,000 – $14,000. Small repairs – sealing cracks, patching spalls, resetting a handful of pavers – run $450 – $2,500.
The price you get from us is the price you pay. We write it down before work starts and it doesn’t change unless you change the scope. That’s how Sawyer Remodel has operated since 2005 under The Relay Standard.
Every job includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if what we installed doesn’t hold, we come back and make it right at no charge. No argument, no phone tag. We also send a photo update before and after the work so you see exactly what was done under your driveway, even though you can’t see it anymore.
DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely seal hairline cracks yourself. Quikrete Crack Sealant is a caulk-tube product, and if the crack is stable and clean, a competent homeowner can do it in an afternoon. Same with topping up polymeric sand between pavers where the joints are intact but partially emptied.
Where DIY goes wrong is when the base has failed. We’ve lost count of the Woodland Hills driveways we’ve re-done because someone resurfaced over a moving slab, or reset pavers on uncompacted fill. Concrete and pavers are heavy. A cubic yard of concrete weighs about two tons. If the ground underneath isn’t stable, you’re throwing money at the surface. That’s when you call a contractor.
If you’re not sure which bucket you’re in, call us at (341) 217-2776 and describe what you’re seeing. Luca will give you a straight answer, and if it’s a crack-seal job, he’ll tell you how to do it yourself and save the money. We’d rather you call us for the next job than sell you a fix you don’t need now.
FAQs

A properly prepped Quikrete repair on a stable base lasts 10 – 20 years in our climate. If the repair is on a moving base, it’ll fail in under a year. That’s why we check the base before we quote a repair. Call (341) 217-2776 to get an honest assessment, not just a patch.
Hairline cracks and surface spalling can be repaired; cracks wider than a quarter inch with vertical displacement usually mean base failure and a bigger job. The only way to know is to look at what’s underneath, which we do as part of every free estimate.
Crack sealing and minor patches are done in under a day. Full slab replacement takes 2 – 3 days, plus 72 hours of cure time before you park vehicles on it. We tell you the schedule before work starts so you’re never guessing when you can pull into your own driveway.
We stock Quikrete repair mortars, resurfacer, crack sealant, paver sand, and polymeric sand on our trucks when we come to Woodland Hills. You don’t need to go to the hardware store. If it’s a specialty product, we source it before the job and factor it into the written price.
No. The number on your written estimate is the number you pay unless you ask for additional work outside the original scope, in which case we put the change in writing before doing anything. That’s the whole point of the written price that lands in your hands before any tool gets picked up.
